Ed McNamara is General Counsel of Teneo Capital & Deputy General Counsel of Teneo Holdings. Prior to joining Teneo, Mr. McNamara was with Cravath, Swaine & Moore for 14 years, and was most recently General Counsel of Plainfield Direct Inc. Mr. McNamara formed and helped develop Plainfield Direct into a business development company with approximately $1 billion in assets. He also held the position of Managing Director and Deputy General Counsel of Plainfield Asset Management, the investment advisor to Plainfield Direct and other funds. His responsibilities included advising management on issues raised by the Investment Advisers Act and the Investment Company Act, including with regard to the advisor’s multi-strategy Cayman hedge fund, and negotiating the formation and operation of onshore and offshore funds. At Cravath, Mr. McNamara’s transactional practice included debt, stock, and private equity offerings and transactions; acquisition and syndicated financings; buyouts and dispositions; recapitalizations; and secured and unsecured financings. Mr. McNamara has also held various operational, administrative and legal roles for an Alaska Native corporation and a large aviation company.
Mr. McNamara is a graduate of Harvard College and received his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law, following which he clerked for the Honorable Raymond J. Dearie of the federal court in the Eastern District of New York.
