Managing Director

Marc Mercer is a Managing Director with Teneo Strategy. At Teneo, Marc works closely with the Firm’s clients, providing counsel across the disciplines of government affairs & political risk, strategic communications, as well as on broader issues and crises, and reputational challenges. He also works closely with the Chairman of Teneo International and senior leadership, managing a number of strategic initiatives across the Firm's global business.

Previously, Marc worked as an Africa analyst at political risk advisory firm, Eurasia Group, where he led their East Africa coverage. He also served as a foreign policy advisor to former U.S. President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Foundation with a particular focus on the Middle East and Africa. He started his career in Formula 1, working for the rights holder across the sport’s European races.

A global citizen, he has lived and worked in some of the world’s major capitals and emerging markets with a particular focus on the Middle East & Africa.

Marc graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in international comparative studies from the University of Western Ontario in Canada and a Msc in global politics from the London School of Economics. He serves as a Trustee at the David Nott Foundation, founded to further the principles and improve the standards and practice of humanitarian surgery.
