Senior Associate, East Africa
Ahmed Salim, fluent in both English and Kiswahili, joined Teneo Intelligence in October 2013 as a Senior Associate based in Dubai. At Teneo, Mr. Salim leads the East Africa political risk division, where he monitors and oversees the political and economic developments of nearly five key markets in the region for Teneo Intelligence’s corporate and financial clients.
Key sectors he is focused on a daily basis include, but are not limited to, the oil and gas sector, infrastructure development and telecommunications.
Prior to joining Teneo, Mr. Salim worked at the Society for International Development, a global think tank, where he was a Program Manager. In his role, he was responsible for leading the strategic direction and content for numerous reports on East Africa. Mr. Salim oversaw the research and publication of two major reports focused on analyzing the regional economic and political dynamics of East Africa. Prior to his work at SID, Mr. Salim worked as a Research Coordinator with the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) at the Jeffery Sachs-led Earth Institute at Columbia University. He has also done research and analysis on peacekeeping missions in Africa with NYU’s Center on International Cooperation.
Mr. Salim is a graduate of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs with a focus on international security policy. He received his bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University. Mr. Salim is published and has provided commentary for international media including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Financial Times and Reuters.
