Managing Director, Europe
Carsten Nickel is a Managing Director and Deputy Director of Research at Teneo Intelligence.
Following stints in Berlin and Brussels, Mr. Nickel is based in London where he co-launched Teneo’s political risk advisory service in 2013. He covers political risk in Western Europe, with a focus on Brexit, the EU institutions and Germany. He is also a regular commentator for a variety of media outlets.
Prior to joining Teneo, Mr. Nickel was as an analyst in the Europe practice of Eurasia Group. Earlier, he worked for a reputation risk consultancy in London and for a member of the German Bundestag in Berlin.
Mr. Nickel holds a doctorate in politics from St Antony’s College Oxford and a master’s degree in international political economy from the London School of Economics. He also received a master’s in social sciences as well as a bachelor’s in politics and German philology from Ruhr University Bochum.
